In November, ITS Latvia and its member companies LMT Innovations, Vizulo, and Idea Lights embarked on a trade mission to the United Kingdom, exploring opportunities and learning about smart mobility solutions outside London. Based on feedback from the ITS community, the mission’s program included visits to five cities - Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Coventry, Birmingham, Manchester, meeting with organizations and professionals actively engaged in advancing innovative mobility solutions.
Trade Mission Highlights:
Monday: Meetings with Daniel Clarke (Greater Cambridge Partnership), David Brown (Starling Technologies), Flora McFarlane (VivaCity), Jim Hutchinson (Fusion Processing), Tom McKenna (Alcheera), and Ivars Žukovskis (Investment and Development Agency of Latvia in the UK).
Tuesday: A packed day in Coventry, including discussions with Sunil Budheo and Umutcan Erdogan (Coventry Council), Mark Collins (Transport for West Midlands), Honorary Consul for Latvia in the Midlands Karen Tracey, and others.
Wednesday: Visits in Manchester with Hannah Tune, Martin Mildenhall, and David Watts.
Gints Jakovels from LMT highlighted the mission’s value:
"This was an excellent opportunity to learn from innovative and diverse cities in England, providing valuable insight into the local smart mobility ecosystem. It was particularly beneficial to visit municipal traffic management centers and discuss how daily mobility management can be further streamlined and improved."
